about YCH ss19
YCH had a lot of fun portraying the classic Anne of Green Gables.
This romantic and ladylike collection had such an air of innocence, strength and vivacity. Tea dresses had fun embroidery details, textures and strong shoulders. Cloaks and slouch creased boots ready for an adventurous journey. Sheer whimsical dresses alluded to dreams and bright red pieces spoke of passion.
*Details from the collection to love:
The well known braids that Anne always wore to hide her bright red hair were perfectly alluded to through the knit sleeve braiding details and the amazingly unique knitted collar of the trench coat. Another stand out detail was the sleeves of the yellow dress, a very light and dreamy connection to the slouch boots.
*Favourite piece:
My favourite piece from the collection is the short black jumpsuit with a white frilled yoke. This outfit struck me as so strong while also reminiscent of both the innocence and strictness connected with the young women of that period. In particular when Anne first arrived into the strict, unwelcome home of Marilla Cuthbert, she was unable to hide her strong vivacious personality, portrayed by the strong boots.
Another favourite was the beige sleeveless maxi appliqué dress, a pared back version of another beige tea dress from the collection. In comparison to the rest of the collection, the dress is starkly bare and innocent. It is the feminine dress when Anne was not constrained by her environment and was able to just peacefully be herself, lost in her own romantic world of dreams.
